Tutoring Policies

Cancellations: MoxiePrep tutors are in demand and typically have busy schedules but will do their best to accommodate you and your student's schedule. As tutors, we fully understand the rigors of academic and athletic demands placed on today's students; at the same time, we ask for common courtesy. We ask that you keep your student's advanced schedule when scheduling tutoring sessions. If you can no longer keep a scheduled appointment, please contact us by email or cancel your session through our scheduler at least 24 hours before the appointment. We will charge a full session fee for a cancellation made within 24 hours of the scheduled session; however, we will consider emergencies. Please note that non-emergency events such as athletic practices and dinners, "lots of schoolwork," etc., are unacceptable excuses for canceling a session within 24 hours. If you must cancel within 24 hours of a scheduled appointment, we will handle the cancellation as if the session had occurred. If the student is more than 30 minutes late to the lesson, we will consider this a cancellation. We reserve the right to decline to work with students with a pattern of no-shows. 

Homework:  We firmly believe that practice makes permanent and consistency is king. Depending on the subject, we may assign homework that focuses on your specific areas of weakness. We understand how hectic your schedule can be. However, you still need to prioritize the homework we give and complete it thoughtfully—scribbling down answers 5 minutes before class defeats the purpose and is counterproductive. If you absolutely cannot complete a homework assignment on time, please inform your tutor as soon as possible so they may be able to adjust your lesson plan accordingly. We ask that the homework assigned be completed conscientiously before the next tutoring session. 

Rate: The current hourly rate for ACT/SAT tutoring is $275, for AP tutoring is $195, and for academic tutoring is $175. The billing rate is subject to change at any time.

New Student Registration & Curriculum Fee: A one-time non-refundable charge of $225 to cover materials and curriculum planning for new students. 

Refunds:  There are no refunds.

Guarantee:  No academic performance or score improvement guarantees apply to tutoring. However, the explicit goal of MoxiePrep is to help students achieve their best possible results.

COVID-19 Policy:  By moving forward with an in-person tutor, you agree to follow the guidelines and release MoxiePrep and its employees from any and all liability for unintentional exposure or harm due to COVID-19 or other communicable conditions.

  • Proof of vaccination is required for all students attending in-person classes/tutoring sessions. 

  • Remote/virtual sessions are always available upon request; our tutors are trained to provide remote instruction. 

  • MoxiePrep will be following guidance from the CDC for isolation/testing protocols. If your student is exposed to COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19, please refer to the CDC's Isolation and Precautions for People with COVID-19 for isolation/testing protocols and requirements.

  • Students and staff are required to wear a mask when:

    • Returning to MoxiePrep on the sixth day after testing positive for COVID-19, through day 10 after symptom onset or date of the positive test, whichever is earlier.

    • Exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. 

    • Students and staff are strongly recommended to wear a mask:

      • When they were exposed to someone with COVID-19.  The person should wear a mask for 10 days after their last day of exposure and get tested at least 24 hours apart on day 4 and day 5 of their exposure.

      • When they are moderate to severely immunocompromised, and masking is recommended by their healthcare provider.
